SALES SPECIALIST – APIs

Location: Lugano, Switzerland

Contract type: Permanent – Direct hiring by the company


Gi Group, Life Sciences division, on behalf of one of our esteemed clients, company operating in the pharmaceutical sector, we are looking for:

SALES SPECIALIST – APIs


Your Mission:

You will play a key role in driving business development and commercial growth across the European and Asian markets, building long-term relationships with clients and partners while coordinating internal support functions to ensure seamless execution of commercial activities.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and expand the company’s API business in Europe and Asia by identifying new clients and business opportunities.
  • Manage and grow relationships with existing customers, ensuring satisfaction and continuity.
  • Negotiate commercial terms and contracts in line with company strategy and profitability goals.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (logistics, quality, regulatory, finance) to ensure timely and compliant delivery.
  • Supervise and coordinate an export officer and a sales assistant within the regional team.
  • Monitor market trends, competitors, and customer needs to provide insights to management.
  • Attend international fairs, client visits, and other business events as required.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Business Administration, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in API sales or business development within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Solid understanding of API market dynamics, regulatory frameworks, and distribution models.
  • Proven ability to generate new business and manage a portfolio of clients across different markets.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a multicultural environment.
  • Fluent English (C1 level minimum). Additional languages are a strong plus.
  • Availability to travel (50%).
