Senior Technician – Quality Control Microbiology Laboratory

Temporary mission – 6 months (start ASAP)

Location: Neuchâtel area


Your role

As a Senior Technician in the QC Microbiology Laboratory, you support day-to-day lab operations and ensure compliant sample handling and microbiology activities in a GMP-regulated environment. You may also perform selected non-product testing, support investigations, review data, and mentor junior colleagues to ensure efficient and high-quality laboratory execution.


Your responsibilities

  • Support lab operations (housekeeping, alarm acknowledgement, reagent preparation, inventory management, ordering materials/reagents, execution of work orders).
  • Ensure accurate sample/material labelling and maintain sample tracking, labelling, and chain-of-custody records according to procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, compliant, and well-organized laboratory in line with GMP requirements.
  • Perform non-product testing as required (e.g., raw material visual inspection, environmental monitoring sampling, utility monitoring).
  • Perform data review for assigned laboratory activities and ensure right-first-time documentation.
  • Communicate sample management activities and priorities with lab and manufacturing teams.
  • Support deviation and laboratory investigations through data gathering and participation in interviews as needed.
  • Support and/or draft updates to laboratory documents (SOPs, work instructions) for managerial review and approval.
  • Record and monitor performance metrics; contribute to lab planning and scheduling inputs.
  • Train and mentor colleagues on task execution and general job duties.
  • Contribute to and lead simple projects; support complex projects within the team.
  • Actively participate in Operational Excellence (OpEx) and Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.
  • Support audit/inspection readiness and, if needed, represent the department during internal/external audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Model company values and complete all tasks safely and compliantly.


Your profile

  • Strong experience with Environmental Monitoring (EM) sampling is required.
  • Experience in a GMP-regulated laboratory environment; ability to interpret and apply cGMP, USP, regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and critical thinking.
  • Good working knowledge of electronic systems (MS Office/email) and lab data systems (e.g., LIMS).
  • Education/experience (one of the following or equivalent):
  • High school diploma/GED with ≥3 years relevant experience, or
  • Associate degree in a technical/scientific discipline with ≥2 years experience, or
  • Bachelor’s degree (non-technical) with ≥1 year experience.
