Personal data processed

The Site processes navigation data. By way of example, this category of data includes: IP addresses or the names of the computers used by users connecting to the Site, the URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) notation addresses of the resources requested, the time of the requests, the method used to submit requests to the server, the size of the file obtained in response, the numerical code indicating the status of the response provided by the server (successful, error, etc.) and other parameters relating to the user’s operating system and computer environment.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text strings. They are created by a server and stored on the hard disk of the computer or any other device used by the user to access a website (smartphone, tablet, etc.) and then transmitted back to that site the next time the user visits.

Cookies make it possible, for instance, to activate functionalities and customisations aimed at facilitating user interaction with a website, keeping track of items in a shopping cart or information for filling out a computer form.

With regard to duration, cookies can be classified as session cookies and persistent cookies.

Session cookies vanish when the browser is closed or have a limited duration.

Persistent cookies are stored permanently on the user’s computer or other device and have a variable duration.

Cookies that expire at the end of a session (normally when a user closes their browser) are useful, for example, for security purposes, such as when the user accesses their mailbox or a restricted area of a site. With reference to origin, cookies can be classified as first-party cookies or third-party cookies. First-party cookies are installed directly by the website that the user is visiting, while third-party cookies are installed by a domain other than the one the user is visiting, for example, in the case where the website incorporates elements from other sites, such as images or social media plugins.

Depending on the purpose, cookies can be classified as technical, analytical and profiling cookies.

With reference to origin, the user is informed that the Site uses first-party and third-party cookies.

With reference to analytical cookies, the Site uses Google Analytics to collect information in aggregate form on the number of users visiting the Site and on the way the Site is used, in order to draw up general statistics on the service and its use, without the possibility of tracing the identification of the individual user. Google Analytics settings provide for data sharing with Google in order to use the following services: i) Benchmarking, i.e. participation in the collection of anonymous data that helps to better understand data trends; ii) Technical support, in order to allow Google to provide assistance; and iii) Account Experts, in order to allow Google marketing experts to provide suggestions for improving configuration and analysis.

How do you manage cookie preferences?

When first accessing any page of the Site, there is a banner containing a short information notice and the cookie preference management panel. The user has the possibility of selecting and deselecting cookies grouped by homogeneous categories. Consent to the use of cookies is recorded with a ‘technical cookie’. In order to keep the collection of data for analysis purposes carried out by Google Analytics cookies under control, the user is invited to visit the page of the Browser Add-on for the deactivation of Google Analytics where, should he or she wish, he or she can proceed to disable these cookies by downloading the specific browser plug-in available there.

The company uses ReCaptcha on its site to check whether data entry (e.g. in a contact form or registration form) is made by a person or by an automated programme in order to prevent misuse of the services provided. The use of ReCaptcha is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Is acceptance of cookies compulsory?

Strictly necessary technical cookies serve to ensure proper navigation within the Site and provide the service requested by the user, so the user’s prior consent is not required for their installation, as indicated in the relevant paragraph.

With regard to the remaining types of cookies, these are installed only after the user’s consent has been obtained. Such consent is optional. However, denial of consent may result in parts of the Site not functioning properly.

Persons authorised to process

The data may be processed by employees of the company functions assigned to the pursuit of the above-mentioned purposes, who have been expressly authorised to process the data and have received appropriate operating instructions.

Data recipients

The user’s data may be processed by external parties acting as data controllers, such as, by way of example, authorities and supervisory and control bodies and, in general, by parties, including private parties, entitled to request the data, Public Authorities that expressly request them from the Data Controller for administrative or institutional purposes, in accordance with the provisions of the applicable national and European legislation, as well as persons, companies, associations or professional firms providing assistance and consulting services.

The data may also be processed on behalf of the Controller by external parties designated as data processors, who are given appropriate operating instructions.

These subjects essentially fall into the following categories:

companies providing communication mailing services;
companies that provide maintenance services for the website and information systems;
companies offering support in the implementation of marketing initiatives and market studies.

The user’s personal data may be processed, with the user’s explicit consent, by third parties to whom they are disclosed.

Your data may be transferred to companies that are not based in Switzerland or in a state belonging to the European Economic Area (EEA), i.e. in countries that do not therefore enjoy the same standardised level of protection within the EEA. For this reason Gi Group has put in place appropriate measures to ensure that companies which are not based in Switzerland or the EEA and which process your personal data provide adequate protection for this processing.

Rights of the data subject

Data subjects may request access to, rectification or erasure of their data, as well as restriction of processing, objection to processing and portability of data by contacting the Data Controller by ordinary mail or by sending an e-mail to: ch.privacy@gigroup.com

Data subjects may lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority, as well as exercise the other rights recognised by the applicable regulations.
