Clinical Biomarker Strategy Lead (Temporary Assignment)
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Scientific Leadership
- Act as the scientific, strategic, and tactical Biomarker Development (BMD) lead at the project level, shaping and driving impactful biomarker strategies.
- Translate disease biology and mechanistic insights into clinically relevant, actionable biomarker plans.
- Lead biomarker and diagnostic discussions within project teams and deliver high‑quality input at governance meetings.
Biomarker Strategy & Execution
- Own the biomarker strategy across project, indication, and study levels.
- Collaborate with clinical study leads and biomarker experts to design and implement fit‑for‑purpose biomarker solutions.
- Guide endorsement, execution, and interpretation of biomarker activities spanning multiple modalities (genetic, genomic, soluble, cellular, imaging, digital).
Cross‑Functional Leadership
- Lead and coordinate a matrixed group of biomarker scientists, clinical partners, and cross‑functional stakeholders.
- Represent BMD in therapeutic area committees and contribute to clinical protocol development and operational milestone reviews.
- Partner with research, translational data science, and clinical development colleagues to enable biomarker‑driven decision‑making.
Scientific Communication
- Interpret and contextualize biomarker results and communicate findings through abstracts, presentations, and peer‑reviewed publications.
- Identify, evaluate, and advocate for innovative biomarker technologies to support clinical differentiation and optimize patient selection.
Qualifications & Experience
- MD, MD/PhD, or PhD with postdoctoral or equivalent research experience.
- At least 5 years of industry experience in Pharma or Biotech.
- Strong scientific or clinical expertise in immunology or immune‑mediated diseases.
- Proven track record in translational science and biomarker strategy in early and/or late clinical development.
- Experience applying biomarkers to support clinical decision‑making (pharmacodynamics, efficacy, disease deconvolution, response characterization, patient stratification, precision medicine).
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate omics‑based data (genomics, genetics, proteomics) in a clinical context.
- Strong experience working in global, cross‑functional matrix teams with excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Ability to balance strategic vision with detailed execution, combined with scientific curiosity and an innovative mindset.
- Skilled at engaging KOLs and external stakeholders.
- Fluent in English; additional languages such as German, French, or Italian are an advantage.
