In vivo Research Associate – (Hematology)


Location: Basel, Switzerland (On-site)

Start Date: 01 May 2026

Contract Duration: 12 months



About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to support our gene therapy programs in nonmalignant hematology, including bleeding disorders, thrombosis, and anemia. In this hands-on position, you will design, run, and analyze in vivo and ex vivo experiments to assess the efficacy, safety, and translatability of novel gene therapy assets.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams, using preclinical animal models and human patient material (blood and plasma), while contributing to the advancement of cutting-edge therapies in hemostasis and thrombosis.


Key Responsibilities

  • Independently design, plan, execute, and analyze in vivo studies, including:
  • IV injections
  • Blood & plasma collection
  • Bleeding/thrombosis models
  • Perform ex vivo and in vitro assays on murine and human samples (e.g., ELISA, thrombin generation, chromogenic assays)
  • Handle and test patient-derived blood and plasma
  • Present experimental data to project teams and maintain accurate documentation
  • Support lab organization, safety compliance, and inventory management


Must-Have Qualifications

  • MSc or BSc in Life Sciences (e.g., molecular biology, pharmacology, immunology, coagulation) with 2–3 years hands‑on animal study experience (No PhDs accepted)
  • Or: Completed Research Associate apprenticeship (“Lehrabschluss”) with 4–5 years of industry/academic experience
  • Active LTK1 / FELASA (or equivalent) certification
  • Proven rodent handling expertise, including IV injections and blood collection
  • Ability to independently run full in vivo studies end-to-end
  • Strong background in experimental design and data analysis
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English
  • Proactive, well-organized, collaborative mindset


Nice to Have

  • Experience in small animal surgery
  • Background in coagulation biology or gene therapy
  • Hands-on experience with molecular and biochemical assays (ELISA, TGA, chromogenic assays)
  • Prior work in industrial/pharmaceutical environments
